Roadrunner Elementary

Roadrunner Elementary Roadrunner affords students a rich curriculum aligned to Arizona College and Career Ready Standards.

Roadrunner Elementary School, in the Washington Elementary School District, serves more than 800 prekindergarten through sixth grade children in the neighborhood bordered by Glendale Avenue on the south and Northern Avenue on the north, from 31st Avenue to 43rd Avenue. The school received a β€œB” rating by the Arizona Department of Education for 2013-2014. Roadrunner embraces the message of Rachel’s

Challenge, which teaches students the importance of accepting everyone by doing nice things, saying nice things and including others. Teachers employ the use of collaborative planning and ongoing data analysis to support all learners through rigorous, engaging lessons in order to prepare them to be successful in their future college or career choice. We are committed to our Continuous Improvement Plan, which focuses on instructional practices. Staff is building our reading and math intervention plan and data discussions to make decisions to best meet the needs of all students everyday. Staff also work together to implement the Response to Intervention (RTI) model. The structure of RTI provides Roadrunner students with added academic support. Teachers continue to work on math instructional strategies to build a strong understanding and application of math skills.

In Project Potential, students are learning that real problem-solving takes persistence. Designing 5-step chain reactions to reveal a double message pushed their thinking in new ways. It’s much harder than it looks! From precision ball-to-bucket tasks to engineering solutions to raise the American flag, students in project potential are building creativity, collaboration, and resilience every step of the way.
