Here's a little HYC team photo dump! 💙From exploring the Titanic Experience in Scottsdale to sharing a few moments together back at the office, our team enjoyed the opportunity to connect, learn, and find new inspiration. But what makes HYC special is the people behind the mission and passion each person brings to the work.

A few reflections from our team—what we love about HYC and what inspired us along the way:

Dana Bailey | Co-CEO
“Something I really appreciate about our HYC team is the incredible talent, strengths, and passion each person brings to making a difference in the lives and futures of our incredible youth.”

Robin Miller | Executive Assistant
“I am incredibly proud to work for HYC because we are changing the path of our youth’s lives by giving them the tools and opportunities they need to pave the way to a successful future.”

Kate Blosser | Volunteer, Events, & In-kind Manager
“I love that HYC supports the population that is often forgotten about. We raise awareness for teens that fly under the radar in the school systems.”

Deborah Robles-Nguyen | Development Manager
“The Titanic Experience was a reminder of how important it is to tell young people’s stories with care, honoring their dignity and individuality. Their lives are about so much more than the challenges they face.”

Jeannette Cruz | Strategic Communications & Marketing Manager
“I love finding ways to tell HYC’s story that help people connect with our mission. I get to bring creativity and strategy together to share the incredible journeys of our youth and help our community see why their stories matter.”

The holidays can bring joy, treasured traditions and sometimes difficult memories. For young people experiencing homelessness, a chance to create new memories can mean so much!

In our latest blog, Creating New Holiday Memories, one youth shares the traditions he remembers, the changes he’s experienced, and a holiday moment at HYC that brought him joy.

Read his story on the HYC blog, then join Holiday Magic by sponsoring a youth with a holiday gift bag.

Here's what you should you know about Proposition 320:

Arizona’s public schools are already being asked to do more with less. Proposition 320 would add a new spending mandate without providing the resources districts need to meet it, potentially putting essential student supports—from school nurses and librarians to transportation and afterschool programs—at risk.
As a youth-serving nonprofit, HYC understands how important these services are in helping young people, especially those experiencing homelessness, stay connected to school and succeed.

Want to learn more? Join an upcoming virtual information session to learn about Prop 320, its potential impact on Arizona’s public schools, and what it could mean for students and the resources they rely on.

✨The holidays are a time for joy, surprises, and the excitement of unwrapping something special. This season, we want young people experiencing homelessness to experience that magic, too. ❤️

We need your help to make it happen.

Through HYC's Holiday Magic campaign, we're preparing gift bags filled with gift cards, treats, and little surprises to help youth feel seen, valued, and celebrated. But we can't do it without you.

There are three ways you can help:

🎁 Prepare a Holiday Gift Bag filled with gift cards, treats, and little surprises.
💌 Donate gift cards so HYC can prepare a special bag on your behalf.
✨ OR give online and let the HYC team shop and prepare a gift bag for you.

Online donations are due November 13, while physical gift bags and donated gift cards are due December 1. Please share this post and help us spread the word!

A big thank-you Penrose Academy for spending time at HYC yesterday! Their team helped sort and count hygiene donations and organize inventory—and they’re also gearing up for a hygiene drive and their fourth year supporting HYC youth through Holiday Magic.

We’re grateful for partners who keep finding ways to support our youth all year long. Thank you, Penrose! ✨

🎓 FAFSA season is here — but knowing where to start isn't always easy. For many young people, going to college starts with a big question: How will I pay for it? The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is an important first step in exploring financial aid, but completing the application can feel overwhelming, especially for youth experiencing homelessness.

Earlier this year, HYC Youth Coaches had the opportunity to participate in the U.S. Department of Education’s beta testing of the new 2027–28 FAFSA. The experience gave our team an early look at the application and, more importantly, another opportunity to help youth navigate the process.

📚 Read our latest blog at hycaz.org to learn more about what youth may encounter during the process and how HYC Youth Coaches help them take the next step.

What began as a volunteer opportunity at HYC for Gary and his granddaughter, Braelyn, became a tradition they’ve carried with them for years. Now, they’re joined by Emma — continuing a family tradition of showing up, serving youth experiencing homelessness, and making a difference. 💙
