Breaking! Former Justice Democrat endorsed candidate Brianna Westbrook has announced her candidacy for Arizona statehouse!

I’m Brianna Westbrook, and I’m running to represent my community in Arizona’s state legislature.

As a working-class transgender parent, I may not be your typical politician. But the truth is, I share many experiences with working people all over Phoenix. I’m running for LD24 House of Representatives because it’s time the peoples’ struggles are finally made a priority.

I grew up in poverty and worked blue-collar jobs for years to provide for my family. I know what it’s like to go hungry, to work day in and day out to make ends meet, to face eviction.

I also know that it takes time, energy, and courage to fight for our rights and win. Phoenix needs a champion, and that’s exactly why I’m running. Business as usual is over, and the time for big, bold change is now.

For nearly half a decade, I’ve worked tirelessly with local and national progressive organizations and activists to meet the needs of our community, from housing to living wages, criminal justice reform to civil rights, and everything in between.

Everything I do is centered on the issues that matter most to the people of Phoenix. I fight for whatever our communities need because it’s the right thing to do.

I am so grateful to you for believing in the work that I do every day for our communities in Phoenix. Together, I believe that we will win.

The plan would phase out the $1,400 payments faster for higher-income individuals after moderate Senate Democrats pushed for more “targeted” spending. The change comes as the Senate prepares to move forward with an initial procedural vote on President Biden’s $1.9 trillion relief bill.
