"I write this with a heavy heart. Our family needs to surrender our Gunner. We wanted to let those who might want him as a part of their family to know a few things.

If he comes and finds you, he needs to go outside, same if he sits at the back door. After he has been outside he will bark, he is potty trained but may have an accident if left alone longer than 4 hours - he is rarely left alone.

He loves cheese, pizza crust, chicken and rice. He doesn't like everyone. If he doesn't like someone, he will stand between them and his family. In our family, he was very protective over me and our kids.

We got him in December 2020 at 11 months old, his birthday is 1-24-2020. He chews tennis balls until they break. His favorite balls to play with are medium sized bacon balls...He plays with his ball whenever he wants, at least 20 minutes a day. If he starts to do the zoomies around the house, he has to go to the bathroom badly.

He was allowed to be on the furniture, expect a couch potato. He had a dog bed but preferred the tile or a blanket. He doesn't take pills well. When approaching, he likes his hips touched first but don't come from behind. He loves his ears to be rubbed.

Due to our family circumstances he was hardly ever alone. He is a great listener, gives the best cuddles, and will follow his favorite person around the house. He loves to wait in the kitchen or under the table for any food droppings. Bath time and nail trims were a challenge.

He knows how to back up when you say "beep beep". Did I mention he LOVES cheese?! He hates yelling and will talk back if you yell at him. He is wary of strangers and men, but he fell in love with the little female Chihuahua next door.

He was a blessing to our family and we know he will be to yours. His name is Gunner but we only call him that if he is in trouble, otherwise we call him Gummy Bear or GB. Please take care of our sweet GB, he will forever be in our hearts.

Love, his previous family."

Gunner is available for adoption at the West shelter. Read the full letter and learn more about him: https://apps.pets.maricopa.gov/adoptPets/Home/Details/A4601536

Dolly is wishing everyone a happy Labor Day and a well-deserved break from your 9 to 5. πŸ‘‘ This sweet lady was surrendered to us through no fault of her own, and she's starting over in a temporary foster home. Anyone have any job openings for a live-in best friend?

Her foster writes: "Dolly is an absolute doll! She had a bath, played in the yard and slept quietly all night in her kennel. She loves uses the doggie door and appears completely potty trained. She absolutely loves her people and having her belly petted."

Dolly's a loving, playful girl who has the qualifications. Give her the interview! Email [email protected] to get started: https://apps.pets.maricopa.gov/adoptPets/Home/Details/A5157016

Ronald got a little surprise this week. β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή He has officially spent 10 months at the shelter, a number that is far too high for someone as sweet as him.

Like most dogs, he's not perfect. He eats stuffies if left alone for too long. He might even nibble at the ends of your hair. But he's a cuddlebug who's full of love and ready to learn the ropes of living in a home.

This longtimer has a sponsored adoption fee. Come meet him today at the East shelter: https://apps.pets.maricopa.gov/adoptPets/Home/Details/A5153319
