Today we marked the end of an era. Mrs. Nash has honorably and proudly served as principal of our school for 12 years. She has built a culture and community that cannot be described. Her leadership has led to growth for all of our scholars and our staff. She has always stood strong on high expectations and positive reinforcement. She made sure everyone knew she had their back. GLDSSA will never be the same. But know that the foundation you built will always guide us to continue to be the best we can be. You will be missed. But remember, Once a Diamondback, ALWAYS a Diamondback!

Last week we celebrated the 15 Diamondbacks who had perfect attendance all year long!! They were treated to a delicious pancake breakfast, and awarded gift cards. What’s more important, is that they were here every single day! We also made sure to include our two teachers with perfect attendance…Mr. Gowdy and Ms. Maya! Way to go!

We recently held our “Read Across the GLD” event on campus. Our Rattler Report news team was on location and asked attendees what they thought of our event! How cool that we now have a news team to document what is happening around our school and community!

At the GLDSSA, we celebrated our teachers and our staff in so many ways. From passing notes to teachers who make a difference to nachos and tacos and treats delivered by the !!! None of this is even enough to truly say thank you for all that they do! Happy

Many of us learned how to tell the difference between the words principle and principal. The leader of a school is a PrinciPAL because they can be thought of as your pal. Someone kind, inspiring, and teaches you how to be better than you ever thought you could be. For all of us at the GLD, that has been Mrs. Nash. Wow! What a day we had yesterday! Thank you all for coming to our Read Across the GLD event! From the fun reading activities happening in the classrooms to the delicious Sonoran hot dogs and treats…it was all smiles! Thank you for always showing up and making the GLDSSA the place to be.
