Humphrey Fellowship Program provides ten months of non-degree academic study and related professional experiences in the United States. Humphrey Fellows are selected based in their potential for leadership and their commitment to public service in either the public or private sector. The Humphrey Program fosters a mutual exchange of knowledge and understanding about issues of common concern in the

United States and the Fellows' home countries. The Program offers Fellows valuable opportunities for leadership development and professional engagement with Americans and their counterparts from many nations. More than 4,000 men and women have been honored as Humphrey Fellows since the program began in 1978. Eighteen major universities in the United States host Humphrey Fellows. These host universities are chosen for their excellence in the Program's designated fields of study and for the resources and support they offer Humphrey Fellows. Each year, up to 15 Humphrey Fellows arrive at Cronkite for 10 months of academic study, leadership development, professional enrichment and American cultural immersion as part of the Hubert H. 🕊️ In Loving Memory of Emmanuella Dago-Akribi (Humphrey Fellow 2022–2023) 🕊️

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Emmanuella Dago-Akribi, a Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow from Côte d'Ivoire for the 2022–23 year.

From the very first email she sent to her cohort, Emmanuella's warmth, passion, and purpose shone through. She introduced herself with pride in her country, a sense of humor about chocolate, and a strong commitment to public service. "Better communication for better care," she wrote—a guiding belief she carried into her journalism, development, and public health work.

At home, she served her country tirelessly through the Government Information and Communication Center, lending her voice to vital causes such as health emergency response and community engagement. While in the U.S., she made lasting connections, shared her brilliance, and uplifted those around her with her curiosity, faith, and humor.

To us, she was Manu—a passionate professional, a thoughtful classmate, and a bright spirit. We will miss her deeply and strive to carry forward the light she brought into this world.

Rest in peace, dear Manu. 💛

For those who’d like to read her work and remember her through her words:
