Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area will be closing its waters to all open water recreation until further notice. This includes swimming, kayaking, boating, and paddle boarding. Shoreline recreation, including hiking and fishing, is still permitted. The closure comes as a precaution resulting from the low water levels. Barricades and closure signs are being posted at all primary boat launches, beaches, and surrounding lakefront paths.

Sensitive viewers, arachnophobes, and anyone who gets the jitters from critters, keep on scrolling! 🕷️ If you're still here, we're witnessing a tarantula hawk wasp preparing to become a mother! Female tarantula hawks sting and paralyze tarantulas with their venom. After dragging the tarantula to a burrow, she lays an egg, and her future larva will make a meal of the spider. Nature can be gnarly, but tarantula hawks and tarantulas are both an important part of the ecosystem!
