✨Family Promise of Warren County Receives Transformational $100,000 Gift from the Presbytery of the Highlands - Honoring the Enduring Legacy of Oxford Second Presbyterian Church✨
Family Promise of Warren County is profoundly grateful to announce the receipt of a generous $100,000 donation from the Presbytery of the Highlands, made possible through the sale of the Oxford Second Presbyterian Church property. This extraordinary gift will have a lasting impact on the organization and, most importantly, on the most vulnerable individuals and families served throughout Warren County.
FPWC extends sincere appreciation to the Presbytery of the Highlands for its thoughtful stewardship and commitment to community care, with special and heartfelt gratitude to Oxford Second Presbyterian Church, whose legacy of compassion and service continues to change lives even beyond its physical walls.
Oxford Second Presbyterian Church, led by Pastor Joicy Becker-Richards, was instrumental in the very founding of Family Promise of Warren County. In 2008, when FPWC was in its earliest stages, the church provided unwavering support and belief in the mission to address family homelessness. Oxford Second Presbyterian went above and beyond by allowing FPWC to utilize the church manse as office and daytime housing space for shelter residents, giving the organization a home from which it could grow and serve families in crisis. That foundational support made it possible for FPWC to begin its work and continue serving the community for more than fifteen years.
Leadership at Family Promise of Warren County recognizes this gift as a continuation of Oxford Second Presbyterian Church’s longstanding commitment to compassion, dignity, and service. The values of the church are deeply embedded in FPWC’s mission and history, and this donation reflects a powerful continuation of that shared purpose.
The $100,000 donation will play a critical role in helping FPWC continue to pay for its new facility, ensuring organizational stability and sustainability well into the future. Even more importantly, it will strengthen FPWC’s ability to continue assisting the most vulnerable members of the community - including families, individuals with disabilities, veterans, seniors, children, and others facing housing instability - through comprehensive housing-related services.
These funds will support essential programs designed to prevent and resolve homelessness, including:
• Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program
• Homelessness Prevention Program
• Outreach Program
• Homelessness Diversion Program
• Eviction Diversion Program
• Rapid Resolution Program
• Homeowner Stability Program
Together, these programs work to prevent homelessness before it occurs and to stabilize households as quickly as possible, ensuring individuals and families can remain safely housed and supported.
This donation also carries special meaning for Rachel Opdyke, Executive Director of Family Promise of Warren County, who grew up in Oxford and attended Oxford Second Presbyterian Church. Leading an organization that began because of the generosity of her home church—and now receiving this gift as part of its enduring legacy—represents a deeply personal and full-circle moment rooted in community, faith, and service.
On behalf of Family Promise of Warren County, Executive Directors Bob Frankenfield and Rachel Opdyke, the dedicated staff, volunteers, Board of Trustees, and the individuals and families served, FPWC offers its deepest gratitude to the Presbytery of the Highlands and Oxford Second Presbyterian Church. This generosity ensures that hope, stability, and housing remain possible for those who need it most.
The mission of Oxford Second Presbyterian Church lives on - not only in memory, but in homes preserved, families stabilized, and futures restored.
