Happy Sunday Everyone,
Tamara here, Executive Director from Northwoods Living Hope, (NWLH). I thought that I would provide a bit of clarification for anyone considering the position of House Mom, as to pay being commensurate with experience and education, starting at $12/hr.
Budgets for non-profit ministries such as NWLH are very tight; true for all Christian ministries. NWLH is dedicated to providing women in maternity or abuse crisis, a safe haven where they can learn about a loving Savior and hopefully find His healing through the program they participate in.
Our entire current Staff, including my position as Executive Director, as well as the Board of Directors, all work as volunteers and take NO compensation for the hours worked each week to operate this ministry, (often over 40+ /wk). NWLH is completely funded by donations to support all operations, there is no government funding.
Only the House Mom Staff will be paid because we realize that it is difficult to expect volunteers to provide 24/7 coverage without compensation. As we researched wages in similar ministries, we chose an hourly pay scale very similar to what is paid in the Marshfield area at similar Christian Shelters.
There is no doubt, being a 100% donor funded ministry, we can’t pay what someone might make at a local company and that may keep it from being a position that some can apply for.
That being said, we are relying on God to provide our wonderful and necessary House Mom Staff, who will have the ability, as well as the desire, to give of their time, talent and hearts to the work of the Gospel at Hallie’s House.
