Granite County Sheriff’s Office K9s Julie and Jack have received donation of body armor

Granite County Sheriff’s Office, MT - K9s Julie and Jackhave received bullet and stab protective vests thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Julie’s vest was embroidered with the sentiment “In memory of Sgt. Michael Ellerton - EOW 7/1/25”. K9 Jack’s vest was embroidered with the sentiment “Born to Love-Trained to Serve-Loyal Always”.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. This potentially lifesaving body armor for four-legged K9 officers is U.S. made, custom fitted, and National Institute of Justice (NIJ) certified. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 6,348 vests valued at $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states,made possible by both private and corporate donations.

The program is open to U.S. dogs at least 20 months old and actively employed and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. K9s with expired vests are also eligible to participate. There are an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s throughout the United States.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount, while a single donation of $1,050 will sponsor one vest. A 41-year-old Granite County man was arrested on felony theft, criminal trespass to property, and drug-related charges after reports of theft in Hall.
The male suspect was on probation for prior drug charges. Montana Probation and Parole obtained a warrant to search the suspect's home and vehicle. During the search, using Granite County K-9s, officers and deputies found what appeared to be methamphetamine, prescription drugs, and drug paraphernalia.
The suspect was charged with Criminal Possession of Dangerous Drugs, Criminal Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Felony Theft of Property, and Criminal Trespass to Property. He is being held at the Granite County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
Granite County Sheriff wants to thank the citizens of Hall for their community policing and for being vigilant. People of Granite County play a crucial role in keeping our towns safe.

We received the grant check as well as K9 Medical kits for Jack and Julie along with some bandanas.

Notice of Open Position for Legal Assistant / Paralegal in Granite County Attorney’s Office

Notice is given that the Granite County Attorney’s Office will be hiring a full-time Legal Secretary / Paralegal as soon as possible to work at the Granite County Courthouse, 220 North Sansome Street, Philipsburg, Montana. Applicant interviews are expected to be held on March 9 and 10, 2026. The position includes receptionist and secretarial duties along with paralegal duties. For further information regarding the position such as the job description with qualifications, pay scale, and submitting applications, please contact the Granite County Commission’s Assistant, Maranda Williams, at 406-859-7023 (tel.) or [email protected] (e-mail), with any questions.
