💙 Philippi sewer customers — we need your help!

The City of Philippi is currently collecting responses to an income survey that will help us qualify for future grant funding for much-needed sewer infrastructure projects.

If more than 50% of respondents fall under the required income threshold, the City will be eligible to apply for grant funds that could help offset the cost of future sewer projects — potentially reducing the impact those projects have on utility rates.

The survey takes less than a minute to complete, and every response matters.

The good news is, we’re already over halfway to our response goal! Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to participate. If you haven’t completed it yet, please take a moment to do so. Your response could make a difference for future sewer improvements — and your wallet.

💙 Help Us Lower the Cost of Future Sewer Improvements!

The City of Philippi is committed to finding as much grant funding as possible to help pay for the much-needed infrastructure upgrades our community needs.

We are currently working on an application for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for sewer improvements. Securing grant funding can significantly reduce the amount of these projects that must be paid for through utility rates, helping us limit the impact on our customers.

One important part of the grant application is determining the income levels of our sewer customers. We must have more than 50% of surveyed households fall below the established income limits to qualify for this funding.

👉 If you are a City of Philippi sewer customer, please take less than one minute to complete the survey. Your response could make a real difference in our ability to secure grant funding and reduce the financial burden of future sewer improvements on our customers.

Help us secure funding and reduce the cost of future improvements—please take the survey! 💙

‼️UPDATES IN THE COMMENTS‼️

💧 Grafton Road Water Leak Update

The City of Philippi sincerely apologizes for the ongoing water issues affecting customers along Grafton Road. Our crews have been working to locate the exact source of a water leak, but the smaller size of the leak, combined with the difficult terrain where the waterline is located, has made locating it particularly challenging.

At this time, we have narrowed the leak down to a specific area and are actively working to pinpoint its exact location. We currently have crews on foot walking the waterline and another crew clearing brush and vegetation to improve access and visibility along the line.

The leak has caused the water tank above the Catholic Church to be lower than normal, which is resulting in low water pressure for some customers.

Customers from 20734 Barbour County Highway down Route 119 through 76 will continue to experience water outages while our crews locate the leak and make the necessary repairs.

Unfortunately, we do not have an estimated timeframe for when the repair will be completed at this time. We understand how disruptive a water outage can be, and we sincerely appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while our crews work to get this issue resolved as quickly and safely as possible.

We will continue to provide updates as we make progress.

Please check back for updates.
