Probation can be an alternative to jail, but it still comes with serious rules and responsibilities.

Missing a check-in, failing a drug test, moving without notice, or being accused of a new crime can all put your probation at risk. In some cases, a judge may change your probation terms, revoke probation, or order jail time.

If you or someone you love is facing a probation violation in Philadelphia, Liberty Law Team may be able to help protect your rights and defend you at your hearing.

If you were convicted of a crime, regret a guilty plea, or believe serious legal errors affected your case, a PCRA petition may be one way to seek post-conviction relief.

PCRA stands for Post-Conviction Relief Act. It may allow a convicted defendant to challenge certain legal problems after a case is over, including ineffective assistance of counsel, newly discovered evidence, an illegal sentence, constitutional violations, or an unlawfully induced guilty plea.

However, timing is critical. In Pennsylvania, the general rule is that a PCRA petition must be filed within one year after the judgment becomes final. There are limited exceptions, but those exceptions can be difficult to prove.

Waiting too long may seriously limit your options.

If you or someone you love may have grounds for post-conviction relief, contact Liberty Law Team today for a free case evaluation: (215) 732-3474.

Drug charges in Pennsylvania can be handled at the state level, the federal level, or in some cases, both.

Most drug cases begin as state matters. However, a case may become federal when the alleged conduct goes beyond a local offense. That can include cases involving interstate activity, federal property, DEA or federal investigations, larger trafficking operations, or coordination between local and federal law enforcement.

Federal drug charges are often treated more seriously because they may involve complex investigations, stricter sentencing rules, mandatory minimum penalties in some cases, and less flexibility than state court in certain situations.

It is also possible for someone to face both state and federal charges based on the same overall conduct because the state and federal governments are considered separate sovereigns.

If you or someone you love is facing drug charges in Philadelphia or anywhere in Pennsylvania, it is important to understand what level of prosecution you may be facing and what defense options may be available.

Restorative justice is a different approach to criminal justice.

Instead of focusing only on punishment, restorative justice looks at accountability, treatment, rehabilitation, and the circumstances that may have contributed to the case.

In Pennsylvania, some eligible defendants may have access to programs or court alternatives such as ARD, Mental Health Court, or DUI Treatment Court. These options may involve treatment, classes, community service, supervision, or other court-ordered conditions.

Restorative justice does not mean there are no consequences. It means the legal system may recognize that some cases require more than punishment alone, especially when mental health, substance use, lack of resources, or instability played a role.

However, eligibility matters. The right option depends on the charge, the person’s record, the facts of the case, and whether the court or prosecutor approves participation.

If you or someone you love is facing criminal charges in Philadelphia or anywhere in Pennsylvania, Liberty Law Team can review your case and help determine whether a restorative justice program or alternative resolution may be available.

Today, we honor the brave souls who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is a time to pause, reflect, and remember the sacrifice of those who fought for the country we continue to live under today.

In his poem *Memorial Day*, Joyce Kilmer wrote:

“Above their wreath-strewn graves we kneel,
They kept the faith and fought the fight.”

May we never take their courage for granted. May we remember the families who carry their loss. And may we continue to honor the legacy of those who gave everything in service to this nation.

From all of us at Liberty Law Team, we wish you a meaningful Memorial Day.

Most criminal charges must be filed within a specific amount of time. Murder is one of the major exceptions.

In Pennsylvania, there is no statute of limitations for murder. That means prosecutors may bring murder charges at any time, even years or decades after the alleged crime occurred.

Attempted murder is treated differently. In many cases, attempted murder charges must be filed within a specific time period, but that deadline may be paused or extended under certain circumstances.

When an old case moves forward, the defense must look closely at the evidence. Older cases may involve faded witness memories, missing evidence, outdated forensic material, or weaknesses in the prosecution’s version of events.

A murder charge from years ago is still a serious criminal case. The right legal strategy may make a major difference in how the evidence is challenged.

Assault charges can range from relatively minor to extremely serious, and the way the case is charged can make a major difference in how the defense is built.

In Pennsylvania, an assault case may involve simple assault or aggravated assault. The difference often depends on the alleged injuries, whether a weapon was involved, who the alleged victim is, the surrounding facts, and the level of intent prosecutors claim they can prove.

A strong defense may focus on questions such as:

Was there intent?
Was a weapon actually used?
Were there aggravating factors?
Was the accused acting in self-defense?
Does the evidence support the prosecution’s version of events?

Evidence can make a major difference. Security camera footage, witness statements, messages, and accounts that contradict the allegations may all help shape the defense strategy.

If you or someone you love is facing assault charges in Philadelphia or anywhere in Pennsylvania, it is important to speak with a criminal defense attorney as early as possible.

A false accusation can affect every part of your life.

Even before a case goes to trial, criminal allegations can lead to police investigations, arrests, loss of employment opportunities, damage to personal relationships, and permanent harm to your reputation.

Many people believe that if they are innocent, the truth will automatically protect them. Unfortunately, criminal cases are rarely that simple.

Statements made to law enforcement, text messages, social media activity, and misunderstandings can all become part of the prosecution’s case. That is why it is important to take accusations seriously from the very beginning.

If you are being investigated or accused of a crime:
• Do not speak to police without an attorney.
• Avoid discussing the case with others.
• Preserve any evidence, messages, or documents that may support your defense.
• Contact an experienced criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible.

At Liberty Law Team, we understand how serious criminal allegations can be and the impact they can have on your future. Our team may be able to review the facts of your case, identify weaknesses in the allegations, and help protect your rights throughout the process.

A conviction can feel final, but the legal fight may not be over.

A criminal appeal is not a new trial. It is a request for a higher court to review the case and determine whether serious legal errors affected the outcome.

In Pennsylvania, timing matters. In many cases, a Notice of Appeal must be filed within 30 days, and certain post-sentence motions can affect when that deadline begins.

That is why it is important to act quickly after a conviction. An attorney may be able to review the trial record, identify possible errors, and determine whether there are grounds to challenge the result.

If you or someone you love has been convicted of a crime in Philadelphia or anywhere in Pennsylvania, contact Liberty Law Team today to discuss whether an appeal may be possible.

Murder is one of the most serious charges a person can face in Pennsylvania.

But not every death-related case is charged the same way. Pennsylvania law recognizes different degrees of murder, including first-degree, second-degree, and third-degree murder. The facts, intent, evidence, and circumstances surrounding the case can all affect how prosecutors decide to charge it.

Felony murder is especially serious because a person may face a murder charge even when they are not accused of directly causing the death.

Swipe through to understand the basic difference between murder charges and other homicide-related offenses in Pennsylvania.

If you or someone you love is facing a serious criminal charge, speak with an experienced criminal defense attorney as early as possible.
