American Living Organ Donor Fund

American Living Organ Donor Fund We protect the rights and needs of living organ donors. We believe one should never experience financial hardship, and being a donor should be cost - neutral.

We do this by offering financial assistance. We also provide free mental health services. Our one and only goal is to help American living organ donors so it is easier for them to save the lives of fellow Americans. There are plenty of organizations that help transplant recipients and their families, but few with the primary purpose of helping make organ donors’ lives easier. Every dollar donated

at the ALODF website goes to help living organ donors meet their expenses. We are seeking sponsors and grants to cover our administrative costs.

1. Provide information to help donors make informed decisions, including the most recent articles and literature on the risks and benefits of living organ donation.

2. Provide resources, state by state, so donors can look up what services and benefits are available to them in the region where they are considering donating (support groups, local charities, and information on hospital and government programs for living donation).

3) Provide actual financial benefits and support services to donors to the fullest extent permissible under U.S. law. Such services, funds permitting, will include travel, lodging, and other forms of support needed to help reduce the burden of living donation. Today marks a significant moment as the Senate takes action on the . It is now crucial for the House to follow suit. A link to watch live at 10 am is in the comments. , living donors are counting on your support.

First introduced in Congress in 2013, the LDPA has garnered support from advocates like you in every Congress since, building bipartisan momentum and passing similar protections in over 30 states. This bill aims to protect living donors from discrimination in life, disability, and long-term care insurance, and to ensure that the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) covers their recovery. This means no one should have to choose between saving a life and keeping their job.

Today's markup is a historic milestone, but we still need the full Senate and the House to take action. Companion bills (H.R. 4582 and H.R. 4583) are currently pending in the House, so please continue your advocacy.
