Want to see some prevention strategies at work? 💪 At Clean Philadelphia NOW’s July 23 community mapping event at the Discovery Center, we heard from TTF Watershed Partnership and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation about strategies they’ve used to prevent dumping from returning at Whitaker Gateway in Tacony Creek Park.
Spoiler alert: cleaning alone isn’t enough — abatement, enforcement, prevention and education/outreach are all important parts of a proactive approach to eliminating dumping.

Center City doesn't have a dumping problem, so why should Lawncrest accept one?
215 People's Alliance member Patty Eakin talks about Philly's tale of two cities: Snake Road is a frustrating legacy dumpsite, while the City spruces up Market Street and the Parkway for its visitors during large events. But these events show us that better waste diversion is possible, we just need a systems approach and a functional waste management system.

Northeast Philly is home to many immigrant families, and it is our responsibility to keep each other safe.

Every day, we see families torn apart and communities terrorized by ICE’s actions, many of which violate the law and our constitutional rights. One way we stand up for each other is by legally documenting and exposing ICE’s abuses, alerting our neighbors about danger, and informing people of their rights.

Join us June 20th at 11 AM in Fox Chase for a community training focused on protecting our neighbors and strengthening collective safety. We will build the knowledge, skills, and confidence to defend our communities against ICE. The training covers our rights as people on US soil, the basics of bystander intervention, and steps you can take to prepare your workplace.
