We wrapped up the inaugural Power Up Tour this past weekend in Philadelphia’s 5th Council District!

Here’s what we achieved together:

▸ Distributed 500 free laptops citywide, across Philadelphia’s 10 council districts

▸ Connected residents to support from digital navigators, affordable internet programs, and training to build their confidence in using technology

▸ Strengthened our commitment to digital equity, economic opportunity, and community empowerment across the city

A heartfelt thank you to the residents, City Council partners, community organizations, and volunteers who energized this tour. Together, we’re powering up Philly—and continuing the work to close the digital divide for communities across the city. 💻🔋

The Office of Innovation and Technology is proud to support the opening of the second Neighborhood Resource Center at One Day at a Time (ODAAT)—a space designed to expand access, strengthen connectivity, and deliver real opportunity for residents in North Philadelphia.

This center reflects what it means to bring modern technology directly into our neighborhoods, creating an environment where individuals can engage, learn, and access services in real time.

The technology installed was intentional and purpose-driven:

▸Soundproof phone booths to support private conversations and service access
▸A fully equipped training lab to build digital and workforce skills
▸Tri-lens camera technology to enhance engagement and hybrid learning
▸Direct ODAAT connectivity and high-speed internet powered by Comcast
▸Enterprise tools, including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Windows operating systems, and CrowdStrike, to ensure secure, reliable access.

Together, these tools create a connected ecosystem that reduces barriers, increases responsiveness, and equips participants with the skills and access needed to move forward—whether that’s workforce development, recovery support, or accessing critical services.

This work would not be possible without the leadership and dedication of Kelly Thornton, Kevin Heller, Sara Wright, Damon Pressey, and the entire OIT team, in close partnership with Assata Thomas and the Office of Public Safety.

We are proud to support spaces like this that bring innovation directly to the community—ensuring no one is left behind.
