Today marks the 242nd anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and the Swarthmore Conservative Society would like to reflect on the nation’s founding and how it still holds true today. The Declaration of Independence provides the foundation for the United States of America: it describes the equality of men, his right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and above all, declares the purpose of the government to protect those rights. So here’s to you, America!
