Learn the basics of hand papermaking. Create sheets from locally-grown materials and take home a small stack of of your own unique paper.

📚 From Plate to Press: Print a Botanical Specimen Book
Thursday, October 29 • 2 – 4 pm
Members: $30 • Non-members: $35
Print historic botanical letterpress printing plates using a portable letter press. Each participant will work on their own specimen book, bound by hand using the Japanese stab-binding technique.

🌿 Botanical Pressure Prints with Ferns
Friday, November 6 • 1 – 3 pm
Members: $30 • Non-members: $35
Explore pressure printing, a method of making printing plates using low-relief botanical materials. We will use fern fronds collected from the Fernery to make the plates, then print them on Common Press’s Vandercook printing presses. *This program will take place at Common Press on the UPenn campus.

In homage to the Queen of Country, here's some Dolly Parton scarecrows that have come through our Scarecrow Design Contest in the past. 🎶💎🦋

Need inspiration for this year? Dolly would fit right in with the theme (From 1776 to the Future: Celebrating the 70s Across Time) — and maybe, if we get enough Dolly submissions, we might create a special section for her amongst the trees.

Wine, Cheese, and Trees
Thursday, September 10 • 5:30 – 7:30 pm

Take an after-hours wander into the treetops and through the garden with staff-favorite wines and cheese plates to enjoy! Horticulture and Urban Forestry staff will be present to pour the wine and to answer any questions about the gardens and their care.
