When it comes to having a healthy relationship, INDIVIDUALITY and AUTONOMY are a must.

Simply put, having INDIVIDUALITY and AUTONOMY means you are free to be yourself and make your own decisions in your relationship.

Individuality and Autonomy look like:

❤️ Having your own interests, hobbies and friends, and encouraging your partner to keep and nurture their own
❤️ Respecting your partner’s beliefs and values while living your own
❤️ Communicating your needs and setting boundaries
❤️ Respecting your partner’s wishes when it comes to sexual activities and birth control

Healthy love requires us to be ourselves, respect one another’s boundaries and make space for us to grow and evolve TOGETHER.

No one should have to choose between living with a violent partner or living on the streets. Thank you for this vital advocacy, The National Network to End Domestic Violence 💜

May is . 🏠 For domestic violence survivors, having access to safe, affordable housing can save their lives.

Unfortunately, a lack of housing options across the country means that survivors are often faced with impossible choices between abuse and homelessness.

Federal funding supports housing for survivors, but ongoing delays to this funding put survivors in danger. Take action NOW and tell Congress to address these dangerous funding delays: https://buff.ly/OyFNQiN

Many survivors of abuse are less likely to be believed or treated with compassion when they are experiencing mental health struggles or have an active addiction at the time they disclose.

Abusers may further isolate their partners by using their mental health problems and addictions against them (“no one will believe you because you’re sick/using”).

This is why listening and responding to survivors with compassion is so important. Even on their worst days, a survivor of abuse deserves to be believed, not blamed.

Fun fact - EQUALITY and TRUST are what make healthy love possible.

Equality and Trust look like:

❤️ Making decisions together and having an equal say in major decisions in your relationship
❤️ Holding one another to the same standards
❤️ Believing what your partner has to say
❤️ Knowing you don’t have to “prove” your trustworthiness to each other

What do equality and trust look like in YOUR relationship?
