A new Hurricane season is here. Just a reminder to greatly help in case your home sustains damages. Now is the time to take photos/videos of your entire home exterior and interior including all contents i.e. furniture, electronics, appliances, etc. Keep thses photos/videos in a secure place. People should do this every year. Remember your insurance company does not have to prove your damage YOU DO. The homeowner is responsible to prove the damages. A new hurricane season is around the corner did we learn from Ian? Well the need for documentation and before and after photos/videos is more important than ever. Remember it is up to the homeowner to prove their own losses not, the insurance companies, who are also not in the business of paying out money. Many are still not made whole, i.e. back to normal before Hurricane Ian. In Florida you have two years from the date of the hurricane to start a claim so you have until 09/28/2024 to file and start a claim with your insurance company. The insurance industry has been overwhelmed with claims however, low ball estimates, partial or full denials bad actors etc., should be rigorously pursued. Well it is almost eight months since Hurricane Ian and a great number of Floridians are still hurting both emotionally and financially.
