Thank you to the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA) for hosting and for allowing the Mayor's Commission to be a partner in the Legislative Breakfast. It is through strong partnerships like this that we continue to serve and support our aging population the way we do.

We are also excited to sit beside elected officials and community leaders who are just as committed to supporting older adults in our city. Together, we’re building stronger, more age-friendly communities. "

Philly's first Mobile Energy Center is delivering energy assistance directly to the city's residents! The electric van helps residents with utility grant applications, enrolling in utility assistance programs, energy-saving education, and referrals to housing stability resources. Pictured here is our Executive Director, Sharlene Waller, with Steve Luxton, CEO of the Energy Coordinating Agency, and PA State Rep. Jared Soloman.

Our team had an amazing time attending "Where’s Your Phone At?" — a hands-on workshop for adults 55+ that builds confidence in using smartphones and AI for everyday tasks. We love supporting initiatives like these, that improve access, and help to empower older Philadelphians!

Love is in the air! 💘 This Valentine’s Day, let’s show our hearts some extra love. Check out a few of our Healthy Heart Tips for Seniors as we celebrate the season of love. And lets be honest, self-love is the best love!

• Keep your doctors informed: Bring all medications to appointments and keep track of your medical history so your care team stays up to date.
• Don’t ignore warning signs: If something feels “off” or different, get help right away—timing matters.
• Stay on top of preventative care: Vaccines like flu, pneumonia, and shingles can help prevent illnesses that may worsen heart disease.
• Know your heart health risks: Talk with your doctor about your risk for heart attack and stroke using measures like blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar.

Know the Signs of a Heart Attack — Call 911 Immediately if you notice:
• Chest discomfort: Pressure, squeezing, or pain that may come and go or last several minutes
• Upper-body discomfort: Pain in the neck, shoulders, arms, jaw, or stomach
• Shortness of breath: Trouble breathing, with or without chest pain
• Nausea, vomiting, or cold sweat: These may occur along with other symptoms

Because taking action early can reduce heart damage and save lives ❤️
