This past week, we shared a presentation with our Prevention Committee highlighting key demographic, socioeconomic, and health-related factors of the EMA’s general population. We are excited to begin sharing some of our key takeaways and infographics!

🏠 Housing
From 2020 to 2024, housing costs increased across every county in the EMA and outpaced income growth.

Key takeaways:
➡️ More than 2 in 5 renters spend 35% or more of their income on housing
➡️ In Philadelphia, 48.2% of units are renter occupied
➡️ Homelessness in Philadelphia increased by 22.9% since 2022

When comparing changes in rent, home values, and income, housing costs are rising faster than what households earn and this growing gap is making housing increasingly unaffordable for many households.

Stay tuned for our next infographic focusing on transportation access within the EMA!

Today, August 20th, is Southern HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (SHAAD). Founded by the Southern AIDS Coalition, SHAAD is a day that individuals, communities, and organizations can unite to call attention to the disproportionate number of people living with HIV in the South.

This year’s theme, “Power to the People!”, is meant to be a reminder of the immense power in one’s voice, one’s history, one’s joy, one’s dollar, and one’s vote.
