On August 31, the Division of Substance Use Prevention and Harm Reduction (SUPHR) held its annual Overdose Awareness Day event at Temple University's Shusterman Hall. Each year, the Division honors people in Philadelphia who have lost their lives to overdose and their surviving family members. This year, SUPHR showcased nine art pieces created during an art and storytelling workshop SUPHR co-hosted earlier this summer, and featured several speakers who gave remarks to memorialize lost loved ones and share stories of recovery, resilience, and hope.

Local artist Kathryn Pannepacker brought her Healing Blanket project, and an on-site engraver created custom keychains, and both SUPHR and the Philadelphia Fire Department provided harm reduction resources and education.

Thank you to Health Commissioner Dr. Palak Raval-Nelson, and to the rest of our wonderful speakers and attendees who made the event special.
