Tate Reeves Campaign and Policy Advisor will be speaking at our October meeting so we can learn all the facts to get our message out. Tonight I’m sharing regarding his WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PLAN:

Tate Reeves Workforce Development.

Work is changing. The jobs that paid well 50 years ago are not as strong today, and skilled trades are soaring. We need the next generation of Mississippi workers to be equipped to take on any job. With the right training, they can. Tate Reeves has laid out a bold investment strategy—$100 million for a modern Mississippi workforce. With this plan, Mississippi can become a “Ready to Work” state and attract investment from all over the world. Here’s what he proposes:

$2.5 million in grants to assist local communities in becoming certified as “work ready.”

$1 million investment in incentives for high school graduates to earn industry credentials.

$20 million grant program to help working families get up on their feet and ready to work by dealing with issues like childcare and transportation.

$1.5 million investment to train the next generation of Mississippi coders in software development at K-12 schools.

$75 million investment in community colleges to modernize their workforce training capabilities.h

Teachers! here's the truth about Tate Reeves:

Tate did not kill a bill for a $4,000 teacher pay raise. The senate and house did not have the same numbers in their original bills, which Tate did not author (or vote on unless there is a tie). The $1500 teacher pay raise this year was the number that was agreed upon by both chambers of the state legislature after a higher number was written by the house. I’m not sure how Tate takes the blame when the teacher pay raise received a majority of votes in the senate and the house. State employees also received a pay raise which is an important consideration of how much money the state can afford to give everyone in one year.

Mark your calendar for the August 27th Runoff Election! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

RUNOFF ELECTION RULES EXPLAINED

•People who didn't vote in Tuesday's primary can vote in the August 27 Republican runoff.
• If a person voted in the Democratic primary Tuesday, he or she cannot vote in the August 27 Republican runoff — and vice-versa.
• If a person voted in the Republican primary, the voter can vote in the Republican runoff.
• Citizens must have been registered for the August 6 primary to be eligible to vote in the August 27 runoff.
• The same rules apply for the runoff as the primaries: A voter will be required to show an acceptable photo ID. If the voter doesn't have an acceptable form of photo ID, he or she will be allowed to vote by affidavit ballot. The voter will then have five business days to show an acceptable form of photo ID or apply for a Mississippi voter ID card, at their circuit clerk's office.
• Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• Political parties' county executive committees oversee party primaries and runoffs.
• The candidate who receives the most votes wins.
