LIBERTY CITY STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT TRUMP’S REMOVAL OF PHILADELPHIA EDUCATIONAL PANELS

On Thursday, January 22, 2026, the National Park Service (NPS) removed educational panels regarding slavery from the President’s House site at Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia at the President’s directive and executive order.

We are outraged that the Trump Administration has removed educational panels that were developed in partnership with Black scholars and community leaders. As our nation celebrates 250 years of existence that began just feet from where these panels stood, this erasure is inexcusable. This action reflects that the Trump Administration is racist and stands against Black Americans, past, present, and future. Donald Trump should not be allowed to step foot in the hallowed ground of Philadelphia as we reflect on America’s history this year.

After our very successful Candidate Petition Drive, Candidate Q&A Meetings, & Endorsement Ratification in the Spring 2025 for the Primary Elections, Liberty City Democrats will be holding our Membership Endorsement Vote for the General Elections on Thursday, October 2, 2025 for the offices of Philadelphia District Attorney and judicial candidates throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Our Endorsement Committee is working diligently to present you with a recommended slate of candidates, but you will make the final decision.
