The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia is thrilled to announce Gail Norry as this year’s Kipnis-Wilson/Friedland Award recipient! This national honor from Jewish Federations of North America recognizes a Lion of Judah who exemplifies exceptional philanthropy and volunteerism.

She will be recognized at the International Lion of Judah Conference in Austin, Texas, and at our Annual Lion of Judah Event in Philadelphia on Wednesday, May 5, 2027.

“I feel the importance of Jewish continuity, from generation to generation, now more than ever," shared Gail. "Inspired by my mother and mother-in-law, both Lions, I am proud to continue building a strong, proud Jewish community for the next generation."

On Rosh Hashanah, we are called to remember, reflect, and look toward the year ahead with hope. This year, as the holiday coincides with September 11, we also pause to remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the courage of those who stepped forward to help others in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

As we begin the new year, may we honor their memories by choosing compassion over fear, standing together in times of need, and continuing the sacred work of building a stronger, more caring community.

Before taking on a role as the chief strategy and impact officer for the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, Brian Rothenberg served as senior director of planning and agency relations at the Jewish Federation of Detroit.

While the two communities have more than 500 miles of road separating them, they have several things in common. This High Holiday season, let’s bring light into the lives of those in our community. The Jewish Federation’s Mitzvah Food Program is running our annual High Holiday Grocery Gift Card Drive from Sept. 8 to Sept. 25, and we need your help!

🛒 How You Can Make a Difference:
Purchase grocery store gift cards (we recommend $25 or $50 cards from ShopRite, Acme or Giant) so families can get exactly what they need.
Drop off your gift cards at one of the many participating congregations throughout Greater Philadelphia or at a Mitzvah Food Program pantry site.
You can also order food through our Amazon Wishlist, and have items shipped directly to a pantry.
