This summer, Fairmount Park Conservancy staff and volunteer leaders took part in a Trail Analysis and Maintenance training led by Appalachian Mountain Club

Over two days, our team learned about a variety of trail topics and common tools for maintenance, then went to the Trolley Trail in West Fairmount Park to practice on-site assessment and maintenance strategies. Thank you We Conserve PA for supporting this opportunity!

🕰️ Time is a precious thing, so let’s give thanks to the volunteers who spend their time caring for the parks we all use!

In August, 39 volunteers helped care for Philly’s parks by:
🗑️ Collecting 14 bags of trash
🍂 Clearing 26 bags of organic debris
🌳 Tending to 137 trees
Thank you to everyone who gave their time to help keep Philly’s parks healthy and welcoming!

Special thanks to American Board of Internal Medicine for joining us at Pattison Lagoon in FDR Park, and shout-out to our colleagues from Philadelphia Parks & Recreation for their teamwork getting Boxers’ Trail ready for the annual 5K coming up on Sept. 19!

We’re excited to share that we’ve received a Two For The Trails grant from our friends at Athletic Brewing Company! Through this program, Athletic Brewing contributes up to $2 million annually to help protect and restore trails and outdoor spaces around the world. With their support, we're continuing to care for the Trolley Trail while also making it easier to find and navigate. New wayfinding signs have been installed at two access points — the Car Barn and Ford Road — and the grant funding also supports continued trail maintenance. Together, these improvements are helping more people discover and enjoy this historic route through West Fairmount Park.

Want to explore it for yourself? Join us for a Trolley Trail Run on September 3 or October 7! Lace up and experience the trail in a whole new way. Register here: https://events.ticketleap.com/events/fairmountpark/trolley-trail-run
