Party for Socialism and Liberation - Philly For news and updates from the Philadelphia branch of the Party for Socialism and Liberation.

The Party for Socialism and Liberation is a working-class party of leaders and activists from many different struggles, founded to promote the movement for revolutionary change. Capitalism - the system in which all wealth and power is held by a tiny group of billionaires and their state - is the source of the main confronting humanity today: imperialist war, poverty, exploitation, layoffs, unemplo

yment, racism, sexism, lesbian/gay/bi/trans oppression, environmental destruction, mass imprisonment, union busting, and more. We are fighting for socialism, a system where the wealth of society belongs to this who produce it - the workers - and is used in a planned and sustainable way for the benefit of all. In place of greed, domination and exploitation, we stand for solidarity, friendship and cooperation between all peoples.

While the city prepares for a boost of $1 billion dollars in economic impact for Philadelphia with FIFA 2026 - they’ve passed the buck of planning for parking on the neighboring residents of Lemon Hill.

Strawberry Mansion, Brewerytown and Fairmount residents are being forced to apply for parking permits outside their own homes to avoid having their cars towed, as their usual street parking becomes permitted.

The city has NO PLAN for increased cars and parking needs in the neighborhood. Mayor Parker says she urges people to walk, take SEPTA or use rideshares.
While the city has known about FIFA coming to Philly since 2022, why have they not taken responsibility for the influx of people and vehicles flooding our neighborhoods? Why are neighbors burdened with applying for parking permits?

Join us for our Parking Permit Assistance Clinic at Cecil B. Moore Library—Thursday, June 4th from 3-5pm at 2320 Cecil B. Moore Ave, 19121 where we’ll help residents register for parking permits. Please bring proof of address (ID, Utility bill, etc) and your car registration.

Did you know that Memorial Day is rooted in the fight for the abolition of slavery in the US, and that Philly played a key role in that struggle?

Philadelphia is home to the oldest abolition group in the country and was a destination of the Underground Railroad after it passed the Gradual Abolition Act in 1780.

✊🏾Honor Philadelphia’s abolitionist legacy this Memorial Day by standing with the poor and working people of the world who are fighting for liberation from the billionaire class!

🏥 Patients before profits!

Nurses at Jefferson Einstein Hospital are on the picket line, demanding a fair contract that invests in quality care for patients, safe staffing ratios, adequate equipment, and accessible healthcare services to the community including the prevention of service closures.

Since Jefferson took over Einstein Medical Center in 2021, working conditions have deteriorated and costs for patients have increased. Jefferson has not kept the promises it made to invest in the facility, and has not been negotiating with the union in good faith, regularly denying changes that are the norm in hospitals across the US, like floating charge nurses, without consideration or providing a reason to the union.

Healthcare should prioritize people not profit margins - stand with nurses and safe patient care!

This weekend, we talked to community members about what Malcolm X’s legacy means to them and how they incorporate his lessons and teachings into actions that fight for a better system ✊🏾

There is no mistaking the impact one man has made and his influence on raising mass consciousness. Whether we gather once a year at Malcolm X Fest, or reflect on his legacy on his birthday (yesterday) we all have to double down and take regular action against capitalism and imperialism to break the chains for oppressed people everywhere ⛓️‍💥🌍

➡️ May 19th is the birthday of three revolutionary leaders in the struggle for liberation.

Malcolm X, Yuri Kochiyama and Ho Chi Minh were all examples of what anti-imperialism, global solidarity and fighting for all oppressed people really means.

On this election day, we reflect on what real political leadership looks like and push ourselves to start thinking beyond the ballot. What actions can we take to fight for a system that’s built for the people? Who will we bring in to organize for that system?

🕊️JUSTICE FOR ANGEL🕊️
May 21st will mark one year without Angel Garcia. One year of Angel Garcia’s family not having any answers in the case of his brutal murder by Officers Edward Lane and Matthew Galdo.

The District Attorney, Larry Krasner had ignored the family request to meet until yesterday’s press conference. It shouldn’t take the threat of bad press to take a fatal shooting by the police seriously.

We won’t accept excuses! We support the family’s demand for a criminal investigation, ballistics testing to be released, to understand WHY the encounter started in the first place and to fire and charge Officers Lane and Galdo!!

RELEASE THE BALLISTICS!
It’s been almost 1 year since the PPD murdered Angel Garcia and his family has no answers.

After fighting to finally see the footage, the case has stalled. The DA isn’t fighting for answers, so we have to!

Join us for a People’s Press Conference to demand that ballistics are ordered and released to the family immediately and to charge the officers responsible for killing Angel! NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE!

Today, on Mother’s Day, we celebrate mothers around the world and their commitment to humanity.

Capitalism does not allow motherhood to thrive—exorbitant medical bills, postpartum depression, high maternal mortality rates, inaccessible daycares are all but some of the crushing issues mothers face under this system. These are all issues that are preventable in a system that prioritizes people over profit. Despite the greed of the ruling class, mothers continue to be rooted in what it means to care for humanity.

Mothers deserve better! We must fight for a system where mothers, children, and families have everything they need to thrive.
