While the city prepares for a boost of $1 billion dollars in economic impact for Philadelphia with FIFA 2026 - they’ve passed the buck of planning for parking on the neighboring residents of Lemon Hill.
Strawberry Mansion, Brewerytown and Fairmount residents are being forced to apply for parking permits outside their own homes to avoid having their cars towed, as their usual street parking becomes permitted.
The city has NO PLAN for increased cars and parking needs in the neighborhood. Mayor Parker says she urges people to walk, take SEPTA or use rideshares.
While the city has known about FIFA coming to Philly since 2022, why have they not taken responsibility for the influx of people and vehicles flooding our neighborhoods? Why are neighbors burdened with applying for parking permits?
Join us for our Parking Permit Assistance Clinic at Cecil B. Moore Library—Thursday, June 4th from 3-5pm at 2320 Cecil B. Moore Ave, 19121 where we’ll help residents register for parking permits. Please bring proof of address (ID, Utility bill, etc) and your car registration.
