The Veterans Group - Philadelphia

Veterans are a particularly vulnerable segment of our population. While protecting our Veterans are a particularly vulnerable segment of our population. While protecting our country, Veterans have encountered some of the most horrific experiences known to mankind. Their experiences have left some with post traumatic issues which are exhibited through symptoms of substance abuse, increased medical

issues, and reduced life and coping skills. According to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, only 7% of the general population can claim veteran status, but 20% of the male homeless population in the United States is comprised of Veterans. 51% of homeless Veterans have disabilities, while 50% suffer from serious mental illness and 70% have substance abuse problems. The residents of The Veterans Group are primarily Philadelphia-area Veterans who left our city, sacrificed for years around the world to serve our Country, and are looking for a chance to get back on their feet. These Veterans have given so much to our Nation and have so much more to contribute. The Veterans Group serves as a critical component to the health and wellness these Veterans. We are a local non-profit organization serving local Veterans. We are located in the shadows of Center City and provide our residents the safety, dignity, respect and opportunities they deserve as they transition back into civilian society.
