Devils Pool

Devils Pool Devil's Pool is located in the Crestheim Creek wheret it meets the Wissahickon. It is currently close

Devil's Pool is an attraction best reached from Valley Green by crossing the stream and taking the footpath on the eastern bank, going downstream to the mouth of the Cresheim Creek. As the ravine widens into the Cresheim, the waters gather in a basin surrounded on either side by rocky outcroppings before flowing into the Wissahickon Creek. Although it is not legal due to unsafe levels of pollutant

s, Devil's pool has become a popular area to swim, lounge, and drink. Unfortunately, Devil's pool often falls victim to litter and vandalism. However, recent efforts to clean the site by the Friends of the Wissahickon have been moderately successful.

The lure of the Devils pool. Hmmm. I like the sound of that. 3:)

I have a challenge for those of you visiting Devil's Pool. The next time you go to the pool, bring a trash bag with you. Size doesn't matter. Could be a 55 gallon bag. Could be a grocery store bag. Anything. Before you leave, fill the bag with the trash you find and carry it out. Then post your pictures or videos here and I'll share them with everyone! Biggest bag of trash wins bragging rights!

But, for those curious, I'll give you a hint. The rest is up to you. Of course, you can always make a deal with you-know-who 3:) for more precise directions. (And BTW, anything you bring in you better carry back out. No trash left behind.)

A fan of this page sent in message and it needs your help or response. "On a Monday morning in May 2013 I believe it was May 13th. My father and Son were hiking to Devils Pool in Philadelphia. As they approached the pool a man jumped off the cliff on to the rocks in Shallow water resulting in very severe injuries. My Dad and Son pulled him out of the water and called police and rescue. Since my Son was only 19 my dad wanted to get him out of there as soon as possible. They gave police their statements and information and left. We never found out the mans name was or what became of him. We live in Tampa they were visiting Philly at the time. If anyone has information or knows of someone we could contact to find out please message me.If this can be shared maybe someone who knows this man or family or friends can give us some information. Thank you"

At the Devil's Den's low flow, more than 90 percent of the stream water is actually treated wastewater, which can cause a variety of nasty-sounding diseases.
