What an incredible experience for the Boys & Girls Club of Chester! 🚢

BGCC youth and staff were honored to be invited to the Norwegian Cruise Line grand opening at PhilaPort, where our young people had the opportunity to experience a special day filled with unforgettable moments.

From sitting front row for a live performance to meeting Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker, connecting with local officials and members of the Norwegian Cruise Line team, our youth were able to experience a world beyond the Club and see firsthand the people, partnerships, and opportunities that help shape our region.

We are also incredibly grateful to Norwegian Cruise Line for their generous donation to BGCC and for continuing to invest in experiences and opportunities for our youth.

Thank you, NCL, for welcoming the Boys & Girls Club of Chester, celebrating our young people, and making us part of such a special occasion. 💙

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the sudden passing of Harvey Weiner, a valued member of the Philadelphia port community.

Larger than life in the cocoa industry, Harvey was affectionately known by many as the “Cocoa King.” During his nearly six decades with his family’s business, Dependable Distribution Services, Harvey served as president and helped build it into the largest cocoa bean storage company in North America while establishing Philadelphia as a port of choice for cocoa. He was the driving force behind bringing cocoa cargo back through the Port of Philadelphia in the early 1990s.

Harvey’s unmistakable presence, personality and lasting contributions to our port community will be deeply missed. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
