• Name calling and/or personal attacks,
• Comments that may be libelous in nature

Repeated violations of the comment policy may cause the author to be blocked from PA-SMP social media profiles. We understand that social media is a 24/7 medium; however, our moderation capabilities are not. We may not see every inappropriate comment right away, and we are trusting in the maturity of our community to ignore personal attacks and negative speech or respond politely.

We have been receiving many calls from Pennsylvania beneficiaries about scammers posing as CVS representatives or CVS Corporate. The purpose of theses calls is to fraudulently obtain personal information such as Medicare numbers, social security numbers, and other sensitive information. Please beware of this, and NEVER share any personal information with these callers. The best way to protect yourself from this is to start by NOT answering the phone if you don't recognize the number - let the call go to voicemail. If its a scammer, they won't leave a message.

Each year, over $60 billion are lost to fraud, errors, and abuse in Medicare. CARIE’s SMP program empowers and assists Medicare beneficiaries, their

With Medicare fraud, the pain is not only financial - it can directly impact your health! Medicare footed the bill for more than $1 billion in fraudulent claims for neck, back, and other braces sold through phone calls from telemarketers and obtained without consultation from a doctor, a government watchdog says. Those on Medicare who were scammed may be putting their health at risk if they use equipment a doctor didn’t prescribe. They also are at risk of getting the wrong device and making their pain worse.

Our Story

In response to the billions of dollars lost each year to health care fraud, the US Administration on Aging (AoA) developed the SMP program to help consumers understand more about health care fraud. Retired Medicare beneficiaries teach other Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries about how to protect themselves, detect fraud when it happens, and where to report it.

The goal of thePA Senior Medicare Patrol page is to share content with Medicare beneficiaries and professionals with an interest in Medicare. All content must be within the SMP mission, which is: Senior Medicare Patrols (SMPs) empower and assist Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers to prevent, detect, and report health care fraud, errors, and abuse through outreach, counseling, and education.
