PWD Open House Spotlight: Career, Trades & Training Information

During the Open House you will be able to speak to HR teams from the Philadelphia Water Department and City of Philadelphia to:
• Inquire about job applications that will be open in the future
• Explore the benefits of working for the City of Philadelphia
• Learn more about the PWD Apprenticeship Program, and more!

You can also speak with representatives from the following popular trade schools and training programs:
• Div. of Reentry - OFC. of Public Safety PHL
• PowerCorps PHL
• Philadelphia Technician Training Institute
• Orleans Technical College
• The Academy of Industrial Arts Electrician Program
These programs and reentry resources help prepare individuals for future employment at PWD.

There will be no on-site interviews during this event!

Registration is not necessary to receive this information, but you must bring your current driver’s license or state-issued photo ID to enter the event space.
Dress code is casual.

PWD continues to celebrate ! Next up on our Employee Spotlights is Shiju Kuriakose, Water Utility Manager at Queen Lane Water Treatment Plant.

Speaking about his work with PWD, Shiju says, "My favorite thing about working in a water treatment plant is knowing that the work I do directly protects public health and keeps the community safe. There’s something incredibly rewarding about being part of the system that provides clean, reliable water every single day to the Philadelphia citizens. PWD continues to celebrate ! Next up on our Employee Spotlights is Michael Ching, Environmental Scientist with our Development Services Unit.

Speaking about his heritage, Michael said, "My heritage shapes the way I interact with my natural environment and communities. Seafood is a core part of my culture, and I feel as if I have directed my studies and career to conserve natural resources, such as water quality and fisheries. In doing so, I hope to promote healthier and more available natural resources for communities that rely on them the most."

Philly Water Bar had its kick-off for the season today at City Hall Courtyard!

PWD Commissioner Ben Jewell joined our Public Engagement Team in serving visitors ice-cold, fresh, and free Philly tap water.

At the Water Bar, visitors also learned about the affordable, sustainable, and safe benefits to drinking tap water. They also learned about PWD’s exceptionally high standards for treatment and testing, as well as the environmental impacts of single-use plastic bottles.

The Philly Water Bar will continue its summer run at City Hall on the first and third Wednesdays of every month at noon.

Come for food, beverages, games & activities, and a celebration of Philadelphia’s dogs. See if your pup has what it takes to the represent the Water Department and protect our waters!
