We are currently in search of vendors and various donations for raffles and prizes. It’s hard to believe these photos are already from two weeks ago! The start of the school year has been a busy one, and we’ve been so caught up in all the excitement that we’re just getting around to sharing some of our favorite Open House moments. 💙🤍

On Friday morning, Bruce Mousseau, a military veteran and Food Service Worker at Indian River Middle School, visited the Food Services office with a special request. He asked if he could display a set of service flags along his lunch serving line for our students to see. The answer was an immediate yes.

These flags hold profound personal meaning. Following the events of September 11th, Bruce deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan, and his wife carefully preserved these service flags throughout those deployments and his years in uniform. Bruce wanted to display them today to give our students a personal, tangible connection to the significance of 9/11 and why our nation must never forget.

Bruce’s gesture is a powerful reminder of how much heart and personal history our staff members bring to our schools beyond their daily duties. By sharing his own story, Bruce helped our students pause to remember the lives lost on 9/11, the first responders who answered the call, and the service members who stepped forward to defend our country in the years that followed.

In Bruce’s case, service is simply a way of life. Thank you, Bruce, for your service to our nation and your continued dedication to our Indian River students.

The Indian River Central School District Board of Education will meet on Thursday, September 17, 2026 in the Board of Education room in the Indian River Central School District Office Complex (32735B County Route 29, Philadelphia, NY 13673) beginning at 6:30PM.

Indian River Central School District Board of Education Meetings are public meetings where in-person attendance is welcome. This meeting will also be streamed live for virtual public viewing through the District’s page beginning at 6:30PM. Additionally, the meeting will be recorded and subsequently transcribed. For more information, including an archive of previous livestreams, a schedule of upcoming meetings, and BOE contact information, please visit the IRCSD Board of Education page at ircsd.org.

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the first responders, service members and everyday heroes who showed courage and compassion in the days that followed.

On the 25th anniversary, IRCSD remembers, honors and stands together. ❤️🤍💙

🇺🇸 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫

On 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟏, IRCSD will honor Patriot Day by coming together in remembrance, reflection and unity.

Staff and students are encouraged to wear red, white and blue as we mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Throughout our schools, students will participate in classroom and building activities that honor the first responders who served, remember those whose lives were lost, and reflect on the importance of patriotism, compassion and unity.

We invite our IR community to join us in remembering and honoring this important day. 🇺🇸

Last week, our primary schools welcomed their newest students for Kindercamp! 📚🍎

Our future kindergarteners got to meet their teachers, explore their classrooms, tour the school and learn all about what to expect in kindergarten before the big first day!

Kindercamp was a wonderful way to help our little learners feel more comfortable, confident and excited to start their school journey. We can’t wait to see all they accomplish this year!
