The Philly Teen Conference aims to bring youth together from all over the city for motivational workshops, inspirational speeches, and a day of fun activities. Free for all teens, the conference will feature workshops about sex and sexual health, relationships and career planning, drugs and alcohol, and violence prevention. The conference was born out of the Supporting Teens On the Go program over 14 years ago, with a focus on sexual health education. Over time the conference has expanded both its focus and demographic to include teens from all over the tri-state area. The event now provides youth a safe and comfortable space to discuss relevant important topics like positive sexual choices, building relationships, and enabling teens with the necessary tools to build their self-esteem. Youth Service, Inc. is a non-profit organization that has provided immediate shelter and support services to Philadelphia’s children, youth and families for over 60 years. YSI offers unique programs and niche services throughout the city, including Philadelphia’s only Crisis Nursery Programs and the largest shelter in the area for homeless and runaway teens. Through shelter, counseling, and in-home support services, YSI reaches more than 5,000 clients annually, the majority of whom live below the poverty level.
