The Cody Rouge & Warrendale Neighborhood Framework team finished their workshop tables and so much more this week!

08/05/2019

It works!! First scooter prototype complete, as the team begins to develop tools for exploring the neighborhood and issues of teen mobility in Cody Rouge Warrendale. Also wrapped up all of the work tables; finished more stools; started identifying and prototyping around small design needs in their homes, like lighting and desks to start to talk about the possibilities of design entrepreneurship in the team’s everyday lives; and added a basketball hoop to the workshop as they work to make the space their own. Yahoo, week one for the team ended in style. Looking forward to starting week two this week!

Folding chairs for the and teen spot? Nope, not when you can make your own super comfy chair, learn some new skills in the process, eventually have a new chair for your home at the end of the workshop and talk about on a very personal level before moving to the scale of the neighborhood. Love the team’s backrest innovation, that’s a new one. Excited to see how these evolve today and more excited reactions of passers by today. Yesterday that included the superintendent of a collection of charter schools that has a branch in the building, who specifically came by to see the chairs, teens and talk about both community commissions for the and incorporating programming like this into her curriculum. Should the team be taking chair orders??! @ St. Suzanne Cody Rouge Community Resource Center

Why of course the team is their own for the ! Tables and chairs and a ‘cooling’ loft, oh my! More on the way today from Martez, Elijah and the rest of the team. They rocked the first set of tables yesterday and these are a vast improvement, making it way easier to build awesome things. And pretty darn strong too—we had four people on this one. @ St. Suzanne Cody Rouge Community Resource Center

For a few hours a couple of Saturday’s ago there was a teen built on Joy Rd. at the farmer’s market lot in the midst of the community build. Was building any less important than creating lasting improvements to neighborhood spaces? ‘I am going to sign up for a construction class. I had no idea that I like building so much.’ -Reece.
