African Culture Festival
Volunteer Opportunity

Location: Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing/ Delaware River Waterfront

Grammy-nominated African music and dance artists will take center stage once again when the PECO Multicultural Series Presents the 11th annual African Festival hosted by The African Cultural Alliance of North America’s (ACANA). The African Musical, Dance and Cultural Festival will involve 6 hours of nonstop music, food, games and activities for the whole family. On Sunday, August with the African Festival will take place at the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing/ Delaware River Waterfront. 2018 marks our 11th anniversary of hosting the African Festival as part of the PECO Multicultural Series.

Join Chosen 300 Ministries, Inc. as they bring people of different groups together to distribute meals and services to those experiencing homelessness throughout the Philadelphia region. Chosen 300 began in 1996 with 40 bagged sandwiches and has grown to distribute more than 100,000 meals each year.

Lend a hand at Awbury Arboretum's community food forest! Help out with seasonal tasks to care for the food forest's diverse fruit trees, berry bushes, pollinator and medicinal plants. This work day will focus on scouting orchard pests and diseases and demonstrating ecological management techniques. Join the group after the work day for an orchard tour of the space.

Join Let's See If We Can Help as a volunteer for their workshop series focused on financial literacy. The workshops will answer participant questions about deeds, estate planning, property rights, and taxes.

It's Not Your Fault Spring Service Day

Join It's Not Your Fault, in collaboration with Global Citizen, for a day of service around homelessness in North Philadelphia. It's Not Your Fault is a non-profit organization that provides supportive services to those that have been neglected, rejected, and isolated.
Volunteers are needed to help prepare and cook food, pack snack bags, and clean and paint the facilities for individuals and families that drop-by. Volunteers are also needed to bring donations of paper products to serve food (plates, cups, bowls, napkins) and cleaning supplies (disinfecting wipes, air fresheners etc.).
