Hello Friends/Community Leaders!
Thank you all who attended our meeting on Sunday December 12th, in person and on zoom to discuss the solutions to continuing rising violence in Philadelphia. Your insights were so meaningful. Together, as a team, we would continue to push for the recommendations that we believe should be implemented to make a positive difference in our city and communities. So far everything seems great. Here is the recap of our meeting:
We all agreed that we will continue to work together to make positive difference in our communities, neighborhoods, and city with following suggested recommendations. Please feel free to include more like-minded people in our group, and also feel free to add/modify/correct our discussion points as follows:
Strategy and Recommendations to address the rising violence in Philadelphia
1. Emphasize on Law Enforcement
a. Provide Police Department with full Support, Funding, Resources, staffing, Community Engagement and proper Trainings to do their jobs efficiently.
2. Ensure Accountability
a. Hold Elected and Appointed Officials Accountable for their Actions, Voting Records and Failures
b. Monitor the current available Prevention Programs & Projects to focus on improving the results
3. Initiate Aggressive Community Engagements
a. Start Programs in our communities to engage children by giving them incentives
b. Youth Clubs/Sports Clubs/Professional Tournaments/Gaming Competitions
c. Online Gaming Rooms with Positive Emphasis on Universal Values
d. Involve Churches and use their Buildings to engage Youth in Positive activities
4. Provide Educational Resources
a. Parenting skills
b. Business Workshops
c. Anger Managements
d. Conflict Resolutions
e. Teaching Children the Values
a. 10 Commandments/Universal Laws
b. Ethical Laws
c. Respect for themselves and Society
d. Respect for Parents, Teachers, Neighbors
5. Stop Illegal guns
a. Stop the guns goin in the hands of teenagers
b. Guide Youth and young adults, with Direction, Vision, and alternates to traditional schooling such as technical trades, e-commerce/online businesses
6. Improve School District
a. Safety Measures such as Metal Detectors in the Middle Schools
b. One on One Counseling
c. Parent/Teachers Involvement on Bi-Weekly/Monthly Basis
7. Assist Youth/Young Adults/Parents in finding and coordinating the Needed Resources
a. Grants
b. Funding etc.
Again, these are just few suggestions to start at least somewhere to tackle the problem. Now, let's start narrowing down our recommendation to top 3 points that we can push for to implement.
