A Grow Culture is about the growth of a community from the dirt to the seed and sprouting in a new and unimaginable way. Right now is a chance to help lay down the foundation for this nonprofit that is still in the process of being. Hello my name is Kayla Brown and I am currently a pre school teacher. I have been blessed to see the country through a lens most people do not get to. I have viewed mo
st of the lower forty eight states and I have found that two things are true for all states.
1. That there are people who are in need and suffer from food scarcity everywhere. This is more than a community garden fund, it is a chance to make a difference in the lives of one community at a time. My goal, and the goal of my team, is to bring opportunity and food to people in less fortunate areas. My focus is on communities where school ratings are low and crime rates are higher. Education and pride can make a huge change in the lives of all people. Objectives:
1. Educate children, families and community members on how to forage within the city for food as well as how to grow and maintain a farm.
2. Provide food to all families or people who contribute their time even if it's just once.
3. Educate people on how to eat in a healthy manor. Studies have proven that people in poverty stricken areas are more likely to become obese, have diabetes and other dietary related ailments.
4. Provide a chance for children and other community members to build basic skills (reading, writing, math and science) in a hands-on way as well as social skills (team building, leading, listening etc.).
5. Provide workshops and seminars to help bridge the community to employment opportunities as well as opportunities to strengthen themselves as well as their families.
