Statement from State Representative Amen Brown on Laying Officer Shane Seiber to Rest

“When we lay an officer to rest, we are reminded that the cost of violence reaches far beyond one family, one uniform, or one neighborhood. It touches us all.

Today, as we lay Officer Shane Seiber to rest, my prayers are with his family, loved ones, fellow officers, and everyone mourning this heartbreaking loss.

This moment must remind us that standing with law enforcement and standing with our communities are not competing priorities. We can and must do both.

Behind every badge is a family praying their loved one returns home safely. Behind every door in our neighborhoods is a family praying for that same peace of mind.

As someone born and raised in West Philadelphia, I believe we must bridge the gap between cops and the communities they serve through trust, accountability, and mutual respect.

Our shared responsibility is to build safer streets and stronger neighborhoods where families can thrive, children can grow, and everyone can actually be safe.

May Officer Seiber rest in peace. Let us honor his memory not only with our words, but through our commitment to working together for a safer Philadelphia.”
