Summer 2026 was one for the books.✨ Our amazing staff made our pool season and camp program a success! Mitchell is incredibly lucky to have such a great community and great people willing to dedicate so much of their time to always make Mitchell bigger & better than it was before. A huge thank you to Ms. Bria and Ms. Jasmine for ensuring that our pool ran safely and smoothly. I can't imagine a pool season without you both. Lastly, a special thank you to our first-year lifeguard, Hunter O'Neill, who was an exemplary employee. He wins our Good Samaritan Award for rescuing an injured bird on the property! It was an interesting and entertaining summer.
A huge thank you to our camp staff- Ms. Emily, Mr. Andre, Ms. Shay, Mr. John, and all of our youth workers, for an extraordinary summer! It wasn't always easy, but what you accomplished on the daily never went unnoticed. The environment and enjoyment that you created and maintained throughout the entire summer for our youth was something amazing to witness. A favorite memory is the campers defeating the staff in a tug-o-war contest! Thank you to Jeff Stever for two amazing visits for the obstacle course and the legendary foam-party!
Thank you to the New 8th District Police Advisory Council for the treats that you delivered throughout the summer! The campers loved your visits!
Now for the bittersweet part: this was Emily's last summer working the camp (her last year working the afterschool was the previous school-year.) Miss Emily dedicated her valuable time and effort to Mitchell for over five years, and Mitchell was forever changed because of her presence. We knew we wouldn't be able to keep her forever. Miss Emily is off pursuing her education and becoming soon-to-be be what we already know will be an exceptional teacher. The staff and community will miss her tons, but we wish her all of the luck in the world! Emily Naphys💛
