Fresh air, movement, and community… what better way to spend your morning? Join us for a Tacony Creek Trail Walk as we emphasize the importance of family exercise, healthy habits, and quality time together.

Walking together helps children build lifelong healthy routines while giving parents a chance to connect, share experiences, and enjoy the outdoors. Bring your walking shoes, scooters, bikes (and helmets!) and let’s make memories as a community!

Kutest Kids Parents as Teachers has joined researchers at the NYU School of Global Public Health in a study to understand the best ways to support parents in creating healthy and protective environments for their children. KKPAT is one of 23 family service providers across the country taking part in the research.
 
Parent education programs provide parents with foundational skills related to child development, parent-child communication, and safety. The study—funded by the National Institutes of Health and led by Kate Guastaferro, PhD, MPH of NYU School of Global Public Health—will build on existing parent-focused programs to teach parents skills that create a protective environment for their children.
 
Dr. Guastaferro and her colleagues developed a program called Smart Parents – Safe and Healthy Kids to equip parents with strategies to protect their children inside and outside the home, and learn how to talk to kids about topics like sexual development. In the study, the Smart Parents program will be integrated into the Parents as Teachers curriculum run by family service agencies around the country.
