Southern Colbert County in northwestern Alabama...
Franklin County in northwestern Alabama...

* Until 145 PM CDT.

* At 1240 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Littleville to Belgreen to near Red Bay, moving
southeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Muscle Shoals, Russellville, Sheffield, Tuscumbia, Red Bay, Phil
Campbell, Littleville, Belgreen, Vina, and Hodges.

* At 1127 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Midway, or
near Iuka, moving southeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Cherokee, Malone, Posey Loop, Pogo, Mt Hester, Cedar Creek
Reservoir, Srygley Church, New Bethel, Allsboro, and Maud.

1128am: HEADS UP! Severe Tstorm Watch until 7pm for all of Northern Alabama! Winds of 60-70mph possible along with hail between quarters and ping pong ball size!

[7:30PM UPDATE] We have cleared Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, and Lawrence counties out of the severe watch. Additional rainfall is forecast overnight with a primary concern of heavy rain/flooding as well as lightning.

[4PM] A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for parts of Alabama until 11 PM CDT. This includes the following counties: Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, and Lawrence in Alabama.

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a


Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

Western and southern Alabama

Effective this Tuesday afternoon and evening from 405 PM until

1100 PM CDT.

Primary threats include

Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible

A tornado or two possible
SUMMARY
A few supercells may occur near an effective boundary, but other clusters of storms will likely spread into the region through this evening, with damaging winds and periodic hail as the primary hazards. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 40 statute miles east and west of a line from 30 miles west southwest of Evergreen AL to 20 miles north northeast of Muscle Shoals AL. REMEMBER
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce tornadoes.

[9:50PM] A tornado watch has been issued for parts of Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee until 5 AM CDT. This includes the following Alabama counties: Lauderdale, Colbert, and Franklin.

Today members of the Phil Campbell Fire Department and Phil Campbell Rescue Squad participated in basic vehicle extrication training. Thank you to Hamilton Firefighters John McCracken and Bryant Rye for instructing the class.
