Units responded to reports of a residential fire at the 19300 block of Wilke LN. Upon arrival a small kitchen fire was noted with minor extension to kitchen cabinets. Smoke alarms were activated. One occupant is being evaluated currently. Travis County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.

Kitchen fires are the number one case of fires in TCESD #2, never leave food or appliances while food is being prepared. Also ensure all smoke alarms are in good working order and operational.

Units will be clearing scene shortly.

Forward progress of the fire has been stopped. There is still a lot of mop up to do, firefighters will be on scene for an extended time. 

*Update 2* 12:10PM

APD Air 1 Is now assigned to the fire, with Starflight 1 attacking the head of the fire.

*Update 1* 11:57AM

Dozers from ESD No. 2 and ESD No. 11 are en route. Fire is reported between 10-15 acres.

Travis County ESD No. 2 firefighters are on scene of a brush fire with TCESD No. 12, AFD, and Starflight. This is near Austin Executive Airport off of NB SH130.

Please help us prevent the next fire:

♨️ Use extra caution with outdoor cooking and never leave grills or cooking fires unattended.

🚭 Completely extinguish smoking materials and dispose of them in a proper container - never toss them into grass, mulch, landscaping, or from a vehicle.

🔥 Avoid activities that can create sparks near dry vegetation.

🏠 Keep dry grass, leaves, and other combustible material cleared away from your home and structures.

Back-to-school preparation goes beyond buying supplies.

Talk with your child about what to do if an emergency happens at school, on the bus or while walking home. Make sure they know their home address, a parent's phone number and how to call 911 if they need help.

Simple conversations today can prepare children to respond with confidence when it matters most.

🔥 Local Crews Supporting Firefighting Efforts Across Central Texas and the State

It has been a busy several days for our crews as hot, dry conditions continue to increase fire activity locally and across Texas.

Here at home, our personnel have assisted both AFD and Hutto Fire Rescue with fire incidents involving structure fires and rapidly spreading vegetation fires.

At the same time, several large wildfires are burning across Texas, and our personnel are deployed through the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS) to support communities and firefighters elsewhere in the state. We have additional crews deploying today, another crew preparing to relieve currently deployed firefighters later this week, and additional personnel scheduled for a statewide All-Hazards assignment in the coming days.

These state funded deployments are part of what Texas firefighters do: when communities need help, we answer the call. And while our personnel support incidents elsewhere, we maintain resources and staffing here at home to continue protecting our own community.

With Very High Fire Danger locally, we need everyone to do their part. Avoid outdoor activities that could create a spark, properly dispose of smoking materials, use extreme caution with outdoor cooking, and remember that the Travis County Burn Ban remains in effect.

🔥 VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER TODAY 🔥

The Fire danger remains VERY HIGH across our area today, and yesterday’s activity showed just how quickly fires can start and spread under our current conditions.

Several fires occurred across the region yesterday, with even relatively small fires spreading rapidly and requiring significant fire department resources.

🚫 A burn ban remains in effect. Please help us prevent the next fire:

🔥 No outdoor burning.
🚬 Properly extinguish and dispose of smoking materials.
🍔 Keep grills away from dry vegetation, structures, decks, fences, and eaves.
⛓️ Secure trailer chains and anything that could drag and create sparks.
🚜 Avoid spark-producing activities around dry vegetation, especially during the hottest part of the day.
🚗 Never park a hot vehicle over dry grass.

It only takes one spark. Please remain cautious and help us keep our community safe.

🔥 EXTREME FIRE DANGER EXPECTED TODAY 🔥

We want everyone in our community to be especially cautious with anything that could start a fire.

The National Fire Danger Rating System (NFDRS) is forecasting EXTREME fire danger today. The National Weather Service is forecasting a high near 105°F, with south winds of 5–10 mph.

These conditions matter. We are already seeing fires spread rapidly - even fires that start small can quickly threaten homes, businesses, and surrounding property.

Yesterday, Pflugerville Fire Department crews also provided resources to assist AFD with the large fire at the 290 flea market. It's another reminder that fire conditions across our region require everyone's attention.

🚫 A burn ban remains in effect. Please help us prevent the next fire:

🔥 Do not conduct outdoor burning.
🚬 Completely extinguish and properly dispose of smoking materials - never throw them on the ground or into vegetation.
🍔 Use extra caution with grills and outdoor cooking. Keep grills away from dry vegetation, combustible materials, fences, decks, and structures, and never cook beneath an eave or over vegetation.
⛓️ Secure trailer chains and anything else that could drag on the roadway and create sparks.
🚜 Avoid activities that can create sparks near dry grass and vegetation, particularly during the hottest and driest part of the day.
🚗 Never park or drive a hot vehicle over dry grass.

Please take the fire danger seriously. With temperatures above 100°F, low humidity, and increasingly dry vegetation, a single spark can become a fast-moving fire before you realize it.

Lets all do our part to keep the community safe.

We were proud to spend time with the Wells Branch lifeguards teaching a Stop the Bleed class!

Knowing how to quickly recognize and control life-threatening bleeding can make a critical difference before emergency responders arrive. These lifeguards added another valuable lifesaving skill to their toolbox and did a great job with the hands-on training.
