Education is not what it used to be. Concord Academy embraces new techniques, research based methods, integration of subject matter and differentiation to meet each students' needs. Since our very first year, our fine arts program has been the life of our instructional plan, with traditional academics as its backbone. With changing state and federal requirements Concord has searched for opportuni

tes to improve our program while maintaning our original goals. In 2013 we have found the STEAM approach to education to be an excellent addition to a program that has proven successful, and a great way to prepare our students for success in an ever changing world. STEAM is an acronym for Science and Technology interpreted through Engineering and the Arts based on the foundations of Mathematics. This educational framework is for all disciplines and types of learners with the goal of being more engaging and naturally successful for all. Concord Academy-Petoskey earned the School of Excellence distinction in 2011. Concord is the ninth public School of Excellence in the state of Michigan and one of two K-12 Schools of Excellence in the state.

Some of our littles have spent the year trying hard to help keep their classrooms neat and tidy in order to help our janitor/bus driver Mr. Jim and so he rewarded them with a fun pizza party yesterday for all of their efforts! Great job to everyone that helped!

Our phones are still down at Concord Petoskey. We have been in contact with Truestream and they have let us know that there are several businesses down right now and they are working on it! We have not been given a time frame for it to be fixed, but hopefully soon! Introducing our American Tourists and Fenwick Citizens: Kaylana Y, 10th grade; Bella J, 8th grade; Ariea G, 9th grade; Makenna B, 8th grade; and Audrey L, 7th grade.

The Middle and High School Performing Arts Class is excited to present "The Mouse That Roared", adapted by Christopher Sergel from the book by Leonard Wibberley, June 3rd and 4th at 6:30pm in the Performing Arts Center.
