I posted yesterday that the Peterstown Rotary donated the stage curtains at PHS. I was incorrect-it was Peterstown Jaycees. Here is the plaque and a few other interesting ones:

Trophy Update: Today, MCS maintenance men packed and loaded Peterstown's 80+ trophies/large plaques, signed footballs and basketballs, photographs, basketball victory nets and 25+ small plaques into the JMHS trailer and took them away to be auctioned. Each item was photographed individually and the group was inventoried before they were packed. These trophies were awarded from 1948-2017, about seventy years of local history.
We are exploring options to get them back and will soon make those public.
Information about the auction by BOE attorney, Mary Catherine Tuckwiller and MCS chief financial officer John Ballengee did not match.
Meanwhile, feel free to contact board members. WV Code allows BOEs to donate to a charitable organization. Peterstown Preservation Group is a nonprofit group that owns the Market Street & Co. building.
These items should be on public display!
(Many thanks to supporters who stopped by today.)

Sadly, the Monroe County School system has asked for our collection of about 40 Peterstown High School trophies dating from the 1940s to 1990s. We accepted the trophies in 2017 to keep them from going to the dump. We displayed them proudly and never thought they would ever be recalled! The current financial officer requested an in-person visit to see them and a PPG member spent an hour Thursday showing him around. Today we received a letter from the MCS’s attorney demanding the trophies. Why? So they could go in the public auction!!!
We are going to try to buy them back to display in Peterstown. Meanwhile, if you want to see them one last time before they go up for auction , they will be behind the Market Street building at 3:00. PM Sunday. We are grieving the loss of this collection with the priority of money over community.

Our Story

With the support of USDA we have relocated the artisan’s gallery to the east side. The front upstairs space has been renovated and is now rented. Music instruction is being offered in Sparrow Studios & Co.

Beginning in June 2020 a Farmers Market will operate each Saturday morning. This venue will provide opportunity for locals to sell and buy fresh produce and food items.

We continue to renovate Market Street & Co to suit the needs of our community. We are here to offer a variety of services to area residents. A few of our services will be community classrooms, party venue, and eventually a community kitchen! Please stop by the building and look around, many people have fond memories of shopping there during their childhood. We are now taking suggestions/ accepting applications to rent the spaces available!
