Our first Naturalist Lunchbox of the summer is coming up this Friday, June 5th at 12:00 PM at Storm Lake Casino Bay Bait and Tackle- Casino Bay/Storm Lake Marina.
Registration is required for this event. To register, call the Conservation Office at 712 - 295 -7985 by Wednesday, June 3rd by 4:00 PM.

The annual Fishing Derby is this Saturday, June 6th at Gabrielson Park/Gustafson Lake from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM. Check in begins at 8:30 AM.

We have two fun event coming up next week!

First, Naturalist Lunchbox is back for the summer. The first one will be held on Friday, June 5th at 12:00 PM at Storm Lake Marina.
Cassie Wendl, wildlife rehabilitator and educator will be our special guest. She will be bringing her live education raven and crow and talking all about birds.

The Dutch Oven Cooking 101 Program for this evening has been postponed due to poor weather conditions. We are looking into another date to hold the program. We will post here when a date has been determined.

Bur Oak Campground at BV Park is open for the season. Also, as of this morning (Thursday) there are still available spots at Timber Ridge Campground at BV Park and at the Linn Grove Dam Campground. Enjoy the Holiday Weekend!!!!

Below is a picture of the Common Eastern Bumblebee Naturalist Katie took last fall at the Prairie Reconstruction in the North Area of BV Park.
Bumblebees are just some of the native bees found in Iowa.

The naturalists had the pleasure of hosting a Dutch Oven Cooking class for some Sioux Central May Term students.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 19th is the last day to sign up for the Dutch Oven Cooking Class. The class will be held on Friday, May 22nd at 5:30 at Buena Vista County Consrvation Park South Sherlter Area. We will be serving chicken pot pie, cheesy bread, and cake.
