While patrolling through the park today, I snapped this photo of a grandpa and his grandson enjoying the beautiful weather fishing at Lake Ashley. Moments like these are what make our community special. Seeing families spend time together, enjoying the outdoors and making memories, reminds me why I’m proud to serve and protect.

On Saturday February 7th 2026 at 8:41 am Petersburg police department Sgt. Collier assisted in a pursuit that began in Washington.

Sgt. Collier entered the pursuit near rolling acres and followed down Main St. at speeds of 80 plus. The suspect vehicle turned into Onyett’s fabricators. It then made a loop of the parking lot and attempted to exit striking Sgt. Colliers vehicle and then sliding into a snow bank getting stuck.

Officers from Washington PD and Daviess county Sheriff’s Office took the suspect into custody after a brief struggle where the suspect was seen swallowing a baggie of something. He was transported to the hospital by EMS.

The suspect was identified as Eric Logston, 42 of Washington. The pursuit began when WPD officers attempted to serve a warrant on him and escaped by striking a police vehicle in Washington.

We had a wonderful time attending all the Halloween events over the last few weeks. We met a lot of monsters, super heros and our favorite….the fellow Jr officers. Shoutout to Harris Funeral Home, The Vault on Main, and Mills Custom Powder Coating for their generous donations for candy.
