ADOPT A VERTERAN'S GRAVE AT WALNUT HILL CEMETERY.
Many veterans laid to rest at our local cemetery no longer have family or friends to decorate or place a flag on their graves.
At last count there are over 930 Veterans buried at Walnut Hill. They each made sacrifices for us. They deserve our thanks and should be remembered.

Would you adopt a grave? To make sure these Veterans have a flag and a decoration on Memorial Day and possibly Veterans Day.

During this time of Memorial Day celebration, please consider donating to the Walnut Hill cemetery. Many of us have family members at Walnut Hill and someday will most likely be there ourselves. The cost of maintaining this facility has gone up a great deal in recent years.
Donations or questions about how you can help may be directed to City Hall in Petersburg.

Road closure planned for State Road 56/61 in Pike County

PIKE COUNTY IN – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a road closure for State Road 56/61 in Pike County.

Beginning on or around Monday, June 1, crews will close S.R. 56/61 in Petersburg. This closure will occur from the intersection of State Road 57 to Illinois Street.

This road closure will allow for a pavement patching project. This project is expected to take two weeks to complete, depending on the weather.

The official detour for this project is State Road 57 to State Road 356 to State Road 257 to State Road 56. Local traffic will have access during this project. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones.
