Today, we pause.

We pause to honor the 2,977 lives lost, the families forever changed, and the countless acts of courage that rose from the smoke and chaos of that morning.

We pause to remember the 343 FDNY firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, and 37 Port Authority officers who ran toward danger with unwavering resolve.

We pause to reflect on the strength of a nation that refused to break.

For every EMT, firefighter, police officer, dispatcher, nurse, and first responder—past and present—9/11 is not just a date. It’s a reminder of why we serve. It’s a reminder of the oath we take, the sacrifices made, and the unity that carries us forward.

Twin Creeks EMS stands in solemn remembrance today.

We honor the heroes who never came home, the survivors who carry the weight of that day, and the responders who continue to serve with courage and compassion.

May we never forget.
May we always stand ready.
May we continue to serve with the same bravery shown on that morning 25 years ago.

🎒 BACK TO SCHOOL & BACK TO CAMPUS — PLEASE SLOW DOWN! 🚌

As the 2026–2027 school year begins for the Huntingdon Area School District and students return to Juniata College, our community will once again see a significant increase in pedestrian and vehicle traffic throughout Huntingdon.

The Huntingdon Borough Police Department reminds everyone to use extra caution during this transition.

🚌 Watch for school buses.
Be prepared for frequent stops, flashing lights, and students entering or exiting buses.

🚸 Watch for pedestrians.
Children, college students, and families will be walking throughout the community, particularly near schools, campus areas, intersections, and crosswalks.

🚗 Slow down and stay alert.
Allow extra travel time, obey posted speed limits, and expect increased congestion during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal.

📵 Eliminate distractions.
Put the phone down and keep your attention on the roadway.

⚠️ Expect the unexpected.
A child may enter a crosswalk, a bus may stop, or traffic may slow with little notice. A few extra seconds of patience can prevent a tragedy.

Whether you are driving to work, dropping off a student, traveling through town, or walking to class, safety is a shared responsibility.

Slow Down. Be Patient. Stay Alert.

Let’s work together to provide a safe start to the school year for our Huntingdon Bearcats, Juniata College Eagles, and everyone traveling throughout our community.

CALLED TO SERVE

We were not called to live only for ourselves. We were called to serve, to show up when others are hurting, carry what is heavy, protect those who cannot protect themselves, and step into hard places with courage, humility, and love.

Serving is not always comfortable or noticed, and it does not require recognition. Sometimes it costs us our time, energy, sleep, pride, and comfort, but that is the calling.

Our fitness, the training we do on our own time and our own dime, and the time spent reading, studying, reflecting, and applying what we learn are not simply for personal achievement. They prepare us to serve others more effectively when they need us most.

Jesus did not lead by demanding to be served. He led by washing feet, touching the broken, feeding the hungry, healing the hurting, and ultimately giving Himself for others. If we claim to follow Him, service cannot be something we offer only when it is convenient. It must become part of who we are and how we live.

The highest calling is not status, attention, praise, or recognition. The highest calling is to love God, love people, and faithfully serve with whatever He has placed in our hands.

DEP declares a statewide Code Red 🔴 Air Quality Action Day for particulate matter (PM2.5) for Thursday, July 16, 2026.

Wildfire smoke from Canada and Minnesota will be entering Pennsylvania’s northernmost counties and pushing into southern counties Wednesday afternoon into Thursday, creating Code Red concentrations of PM2.5.

Residents and businesses within the Air Quality Alert areas are strongly encouraged to voluntarily help reduce fine particulate matter air pollution by:

- Avoiding the use of gas-powered lawn and garden equipment;
- Reducing or eliminating fireplace and wood stove use; and
- Avoiding the open burning of leaves, trash, and other materials

Residents are strongly encouraged to check www.airnow.gov for current conditions in their area.
