What is PC CARES?

PC CARES brings people together to learn from research, local knowledge, and one another. Together, we explore practical ways to build hope, support well-being, and help prevent su***de, harmful substance use, and overdose.

PC CARES is a community health intervention developed in partnership with remote communities in Northwest Alaska. It is:

β€’ Research-informed: PC CARES brings research into conversation with local knowledge and lived experience, helping communities understand what the evidence means for their own families, schools, and communities.

β€’ Community-led: Learning Circles are guided by local facilitators and shaped by the experiences, strengths, and priorities of the community.

β€’ Action-oriented: Learning Circles support personal and collective learning and encourages realistic, practical changes that promote health, strengthen connections, and help prevent su***de, at-risk substance use, and overdose.

Join Us!

Please register for the upcoming round of PC CARES by using the QR code. We encourage participants to attend all five Learning Circles if possible. The sessions build on one another, and participating in all five will give you the fullest experience and the greatest opportunity to learn, connect, and help put ideas into practice.

However, attending all five sessions is not required. We welcome you to participate in as many sessions as your schedule allows. CEUs available, along with an option for participant incentives every session.

Together, we learn, share, and take action to support healthier, safer, and more connected communities.

As the days grow shorter and fall settles, October offers an opportunity to slow down, reconnect and create.

Inspired by Inktober, Tlingit & Haida invites you to join us for 31 Days of Culture & Creativity - a full month of daily prompts celebrating creativity, culture, connection and community.

Creativity can take many forms. You might draw, paint, bead, weave, sew, or carve - even take a photograph, make a video, prepare a traditional food, write a story, or lend a helping hand. There’s no right or wrong way to participate!

Follow along each day and celebrate in a way that is meaningful to you.

🧑 Orange Shirt Day | September 30

Today, we honor the children who were taken from their families and communities and recognize the lasting impacts of residential and boarding schools on Indigenous peoples.

Orange Shirt Day is a time to remember those who never came home, honor Survivors and their families, and reaffirm that Every Child Matters.

We carry their stories forward through remembrance, education, healing, and a commitment to protecting the culture, language, families, and well-being of all children.

🧑 We remember.
🧑 We honor Survivors.
🧑 We stand with families.
🧑 Every Child Matters.
